Our Disagreement

Our disagreement
proves to me
that there is hope
for humanity

Because our disagreement
never means
guns or wars
or fighting machines

Our disagreement,
over coffee or tea,
means everything
in the world to me.

Dancing on Moonbeams

I'm thinking of writing another kids' musical comedy to be put on next summer.   I've been contemplating writing a version of "The Shoemaker and the Elves".   Of course, the first thing I came up with was a song.  This is what the elves would sing when they come into the workshop at night...

Riding on a moonbeam
Of laughter and mirth
From the stars in the sky
Down to the Earth

Dancing on a moonbeam
Lighter than air
Without a wrinkled worry
Or a single crinkled care

We're the spirits of inspiration
The creatures of create
We complete what isn't finished
And make early what was late

Are we real? Are we a dream?
We could ask the same of you!
Are you really what you seem?
Or just here to see the view?

Stuck upon a moonbeam
Our freedom bars the way
Until our inspiration
Sees the light of day.

Unemployed

Lost my job for complicated reasons
Lost my way in the hottest of seasons
I may be losing my sense of time
I'm certain I've already lost my mind

Reality fades in and out of magic
Reality is a table and the conversation at it
And in reality I don't have a job
Generating not a single sob

It's weird but I feel overjoyed
And I'm not even a bit annoyed
Ok, maybe just a little annoyed
At having to face the lonely void
...of being unemployed.

Lost my job but I'll be ok
That's right ya? I'll be ok?
So much time now to find myself
So much future that I've gotta tell

Reality fades in and out of magic
Reality is a tea cup and electronic gadgets
And in reality I don't have a job
But I'm not changing the name of this blog

Yet strangely I feel overjoyed
And I am only a little annoyed
Ok, more than just a little annoyed
At having to face the lonely void
... of being unemployed.

Boy oh boy!
Shout for joy!
It's the real McCoy!
I'm unemployed

These aren't the droids you're looking for
And I am... unemployed.
