Dancing on Moonbeams

I'm thinking of writing another kids' musical comedy to be put on next summer.   I've been contemplating writing a version of "The Shoemaker and the Elves".   Of course, the first thing I came up with was a song.  This is what the elves would sing when they come into the workshop at night...

Riding on a moonbeam
Of laughter and mirth
From the stars in the sky
Down to the Earth

Dancing on a moonbeam
Lighter than air
Without a wrinkled worry
Or a single crinkled care

We're the spirits of inspiration
The creatures of create
We complete what isn't finished
And make early what was late

Are we real? Are we a dream?
We could ask the same of you!
Are you really what you seem?
Or just here to see the view?

Stuck upon a moonbeam
Our freedom bars the way
Until our inspiration
Sees the light of day.
